Newcastle build-up to Everton clash: team news and talking points

Newcastle United are preparing to host Everton at St James' Park on Monday night, with plenty of talk around team selection and the mood inside the camp heading into the game.

Chronicle Live reports that Matthias Jaissle delivered a dressing room blast after Thursday night's Everton loss, with the manager said to be unhappy about one particular failing from that game (Chronicle Live). It's a sign that the head coach wants a reaction from his players when the two sides meet again.

Sports Mole has rounded up the latest injury and suspension news for both teams, giving fans a clearer picture of who might be missing as Jaissle finalises his plans (Sports Mole). Meanwhile there's a real split on how many changes to expect - Newcastle World predicts three alterations, with a specific call made on Will Osula's involvement (Newcastle World), while The Mag goes further, suggesting as many as five changes to the side that won last weekend at Selhurst Park (The Mag).

Elsewhere, Newcastle World also carries a colourful line from a world champion boxer who has predicted an Everton victory and urged them to "give them a hiding" at St James' Park, framing it as added spice for a game Newcastle could use to climb up to seventh in the table with a win (Newcastle World).

Taken together, the picture is of a Newcastle side looking to bounce back quickly, with Jaissle demanding better after the midweek disappointment and selection uncertainty adding to the intrigue. Fans will be hoping the changes - however many there turn out to be - freshen things up enough to see off Everton and silence the outside noise before kick-off on Monday.
