Durham Women v Newcastle Women preview: kick-off time, team news and form

Durham Women host Newcastle Women in a North East derby on Sunday 1st November, with kick-off at First Cloud Arena set for 12noon. It's a Women's League Cup fixture in the WSL Players Cup, and while both sides have had tough campaigns so far, there's always an extra edge when these two regional rivals meet.

There isn't a great deal to play for in terms of the table at this stage, with both clubs down at the bottom end of the WSL Players Cup standings - Newcastle sit 22nd and Durham just below them in 23rd, with neither side having picked up a win yet in the competition. Pride and bragging rights will matter just as much as points here.

Form in the Women's League Cup has been difficult for both teams coming into this one. Durham's last three in the competition read LLL, having lost to Manchester United, Burnley and Birmingham in their most recent outings. Newcastle's recent run in the League Cup is also LLL, with defeats to Aston Villa, Sunderland and Everton in their last three.

Looking at all competitions, it's been a similarly rough patch for Durham, who go into this game on a run of LLLLL. Newcastle's form in all competitions has been slightly brighter, reading WLLLL, with a win mixed into their recent matches alongside a run of defeats.

There's no mention of head-to-head history between the two sides in the information available for this one, but given their shared North East roots, this derby clash should carry some extra needle regardless of league position.

No team news has been confirmed for either side ahead of this one, so supporters will have to wait and see what both managers decide for the trip to First Cloud Arena.

Kick-off between Durham Women and Newcastle Women is at 12noon UK time on Sunday 1st November.
