Crystal Palace v Newcastle live: score, updates and line-ups

Full time at Selhurst Park: Newcastle see out a 2-0 win, despite Palace dominating much of the ball and chances late on. Osula's close-range finish just after half time and Barnes' strike from Dedic's assist shortly after did the damage, and Newcastle's defence held firm through a frantic finish that brought five late yellow cards. Palace finish with more possession, shots and corners, but couldn't find the breakthrough as Nketiah's header in stoppage time drifted wide of goal.

Into stoppage time at Selhurst Park and Palace continue to push for a way back, adding to their shot and corner counts with Osorio twice shooting off target and Pino having an effort blocked, while Disasi also saw a strike charged down. Newcastle have brought on Wissa, Elanga and Ramsey to freshen up the defensive effort and have been content to soak up the pressure, with the game turning increasingly scrappy as Canvot became the latest to pick up a yellow card. As it stands, Newcastle look set to see out a comfortable 0-2 win.

Palace have pushed hardest in this spell, edging possession and adding to their corner and shot tallies as Osorio forced another save from Hornícek, with Richards and Disasi both glancing headers wide from set pieces. Newcastle have made three changes to freshen things up and are content to see out the lead, though the game has got a bit scrappy with four bookings shown in the last 15 minutes. Palace still searching for a way back in at 0-2.

Palace have tried to respond with both substitutes involved quickly - Wharton forced a smart save from Hornícek after a corner, and they've worked a couple more corners since. But Newcastle still look the more threatening side, with Joelinton and Barnes both sending efforts over from promising positions, and they continue to edge the possession and shot counts as the game heads into its final third at 0-2.

Newcastle make it three in quick succession - Barnes drills home from the centre of the box after good build-up involving Dedic, and Palace are suddenly staring down a 2-0... make that 0-2 scoreline that's spiralling further away from them at Selhurst Park.

Newcastle double their advantage straight after - Joelinton's through ball sends Willock clear and he finishes from the left side of the box to make it 2-0, after a brief VAR check confirmed the goal. Palace, so sharp before the break, now have a mountain to climb.

Newcastle break the deadlock almost immediately after the restart - Murphy's cross is turned home by Osula from close range to make it 1-0. Palace, who had looked the sharper side for chances before the break, now need a response.

Early stages of the second half have been a quiet continuation of the first - still goalless at Selhurst Park with barely a shift in the stats. The only action of note has been a free-kick for Newcastle after a foul by Khalaili, with neither side yet creating anything fresh since the restart.

Still goalless approaching half-time, with the game settling into a scrappier spell as fouls pile up - Nico González was booked for one of several Newcastle infringements. The shot count hasn't moved since the last update, though Newcastle continue to edge possession, and Palace have added a corner as they look to force another sight of goal before the break.

Newcastle have found a bit more rhythm in this spell, getting bodies forward and finally troubling Palace's box - Barnes had two efforts blocked in quick succession and Burn headed narrowly wide from a Hall set piece. Palace's McNeil also tested things with a shot that drifted just off target, but the away side's improved possession and three shots in this period show they're starting to assert themselves after that slow start.

Still goalless and Palace remain the busier side, adding another effort to push their shot count to seven, with Mateta flashing one wide and then straying offside. Newcastle have kept plenty of the ball but their only sight of goal so far was Osula's blocked effort just before the restart of play - they'll need more end product despite doing alright defensively.

Crystal Palace have made the brighter start despite Newcastle holding more of the ball. Hornícek has already been called into action twice, producing a smart save low to his left to deny Mateta from close range, while Disasi also saw a shot blocked and Kamada dragged one wide from distance. Newcastle are yet to register a shot of their own and will need to find a foothold soon.
