Jaissle set for shake-up as Newcastle head to Crystal Palace

Newcastle United are expected to make significant changes to their starting line-up for Sunday's trip to Crystal Palace, with manager Matthias Jaissle looking to respond after back-to-back defeats.

The Mag reports that Jaissle is set to make three changes to the side that lost to Aston Villa, as he tries to get Newcastle's season back on track following defeats to both Coventry and Villa (The Mag). Newcastle World largely agrees, predicting a "double change" to the XI for the Premier League trip to Selhurst Park, though its tally of alterations is more modest than some of the other outlets (Newcastle World).

Chronicle Live goes much further, suggesting Jaissle is ready to be "ruthless" with as many as five changes, including three players dropped from the matchday squad entirely and two more left out of the travelling party altogether (Chronicle Live). That would represent a notable overhaul compared to the more measured shifts described elsewhere.

On personnel, the Shields Gazette focuses on Will Osula, reporting that the forward - valued at £55million - looks set to be axed from the starting XI once again, having not started a Premier League match since the opening day of the season (Shields Gazette). That detail fits with the broader picture painted by the other outlets of a team being reshuffled after a difficult run of results.

While the exact number of changes varies depending on who you ask - from Newcastle World's double switch up to Chronicle Live's five - there is clear agreement that Jaissle is prepared to freshen things up for the visit to Crystal Palace. The manager appears intent on finding a response after successive losses, with all four outlets pointing towards a notably different look to the team that takes the field in south London.
